I Met Matt(e)

Hey Matt(e) HAY!

Hey Matt(e) HAY!

So I’m kind of getting into this whole matte shadow thing. You could say that Matt(e) and I are getting quite cozy together. After my Naked Week experiment, I wanted to try working with some more matte shades in a wider color range so I picked up the Meet Matt(e) eyeshadow palette by The Balm on Amazon. I’ve heard so many great things about their shadows and while I’m {still} waiting for my HauteLook order of The Balm products to come in, I decided to try this little nugget. I must first say, that The Balm’s packaging is absolutely adorable. Much like Benefit, all their products have cute names and illustrations. The Meet Matt(e) Palette is 9 totally matte shades and all the shadows are named after famous Matts. (Although, I’m going to have to go and Google some of them…)

On the eye, I used Matt Chung all over the lid and Matt Schilling in the crease. I blended out the crease color with Matt Gallagher and used Matt McDonald in the outer corners for more dimension. Lastly, I used Matt Smith as a brow highlight and a little around the tear duct.

After all this matte business, I thought, why not finish off everything matte! I used my Cover Girl Clean Whipped Creme foundation with Rimmel Stay Matte powder on the face. A great {cheap} totally matte bronzer is NYC’s Sunny bronzer so that was used to contour. I gave my cheeks some pink with L’Oreal True Match blush in Tender Rose. Even my lips were matte with ELF’s Matte Lip Color in Natural.

So maybe I went a bit overboard with my friend Matt(e) but, you know, it was fun to try out!
