Ipsy Glam Bag: November

November Glam Bag

November Glam Bag

It’s that Ipsy time of the month again. I’m on the fence on whether or not I’m happy with this month’s bag. On one hand, the bag itself is great and I’m not mad at any of the products but it seems like I’ve gotten a few of these things before. Let’s dive in, shall we?

Starlooks Gem Pencil in Topaz – In my 7 months with Ipsy, this has been my 3rd Starlooks Pencil. I mean, there are worse pencils, but there are certainly better. This one in Topaz is a SUPER glittery silver. In a lot of glitter eye pencils, the glitter gets clumpy and the pencil is hard to apply but this one applys pretty smooth. So that’s good, but I’m just not sure how often I’ll wear a super glittery pencil like this. It could be a fun accent on the bottom lash line or good as a super sparkly base for a Holiday look.

BH Cosmetics Baked Galaxy Chic Eyeshadow in Aphrodite – Again, this is the 2nd time I’ve gotten a BH shadow sample in my bag…but this one, I’m not complaining about. I’m a big fan of BH Cosmetics and had been eyeballing the Galaxy Chic Baked Shadow Palette for a while but I’m just not generally a fan of baked shadows. This one, is gorgeous. It’s a beautiful shimmery rusty color that is perfect for the season and the color payoff is fab. Ok BH, I’ll buy your palette!

Nailtini Nail Polish in Champagne – My second Nailtini polish in 7 months. (Are we seeing a pattern here?) The color is a beautiful rose gold. I’ll wear it and if the formula is like the last Nailtini polish I got, I’ll like it.

Pixi Beauty Bronzer in Subtly Suntouched – I have very fair skin, and this hardly shows up on ME so for them to call it a bronzer is a bit of a stretch. It has a nice satin finish, so I apply it heavily, could probably use it as a nice natural blush. If i just dust it all over my face, it could probably be good to just warm up my complexion. The moral of this is, it will work for me, because I’m so fair, but on people with darker skin tones, this will probably be a bust product.

Be A Bombshell Lip Crayon in Hot Damn – I love this. That’s it. I love the color, (a pretty pinky red). I love the formula. I love the name. I love the lip crayon form. Love and Win!

Em Cosmetics Lipstick in Don’t Tell Mom – Em is the new cosmetic line from Michelle Phan who is a popular YouTube Beauty Guru. I’ve heard mixed reviews of her line on the internets so I was happy to get something to try out for myself. The color I got is a BRIGHT hot pink and something that I have a lot of already in my collection. There is no lack of color payoff with this bad boy. You put it on your lips and BAM! It feels good on the lips and the wear is average but I’m not going: WOW! I’m going to go pay $16.50 for another one of these lipsticks. Yeah, a bit pricey. But in my $10 Ipsy bag, I’ll take it!

So overall, not a bad $10 investment for, if nothing else, a super cute bag and a LOVE lip crayon.

The San Francisco Look

At long last we have made it to San Francisco! When I think of San Fran, I think of very earthy tones, the Brownstones, and kind of a nature loving vibe. Apparently BH had the same idea because this is the most neutral palette of the bunch that includes a lot of nature based tones. I used the rich brown colors to create a pretty, toned down look and then threw some teal mascara on my bottom lashes. Because, why not?!

This will be my first one to attend and I can’t even wait. I’m going to be in makeup heaven! All this California excitement gravitated me toward my BH Cosmetics California Palettes. Ipsy Glam Bag: July

July Glam Bag

July Glam Bag

Happy Ipsy Time! This month’s theme for the Glam Bag was Beach Beauty and the contents reflected all things summer. From hot pink lips, to bright nails to facial sunscreen, the bag had everything for a fun summer day. After last month’s SUPER fab leopard/neon bag, the clear, plastic bag was a bit of a disappointment. I don’t hate it, but I’ve liked the previous two more. I guess the plastic neon does go along with the summer ‘being around water’ theme. Anyway, here’s what was inside:

Nailtini Polish in Mai Tai: Pretty bright Orange polish that I think I’m going to put on my toes next. I think that this color would look especially fierce if you had a tan going on.

Coola Mineral Facial Sunscreen SPF 20: I used this on Saturday when I spent some time at the pool and I didn’t burn. So that’s good for me. Because I always burn. It also didn’t irritate my skin and didn’t have a really strong smell. I love the smell of sunscreen but not when I’m going to be putting it on my face. I’ll probably be investing in a full size for our upcoming trip to Vegas.

POP Beauty Pouty Pop Crayon in Fuchsia Flirt: First, I love the color of this. But unfortunately, that’s the only thing I like about it. It applies patchy to my lips whether or not I apply a balm under it or not. I feel like it really settles into the lines on my lips and doesn’t wear off evenly. It’s a bummer because I really do love the color. This is my first POP Beauty experience and unfortunately it’s a bit of a disappointment.

BH Cosmetics California Palette Sampler: This cute little eyeshadow sample has one color from each of the BH California themed pallets: Hollywood, Malibu, and San Francisco. I’ve read people not liking the shadows but I say: Use a primer and life is good. I have all three of the California Palettes already so I’ll be giving this away. Seeing as that I have the Palettes already means that I obviously like the products.

Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Beach Spray: Truth be told, I haven’t used this yet. BUT, I like the Sexy Hair line and have been wanting to try out a Beach Spray so bring it on! The bottle says it’s ‘Beach look conditioning and texturizing spray with Argan oil.’ Hopefully I’ll like it. It’s a pretty good size so I’ll be able to get a good feel for the product.

Overall, I’m again happy with my Ipsy Bag. You have to realize that with these subscription services, you are not always going to LOVE everything that you get. The fun is in getting to try out new products. As always, I can’t wait to see what I get next Month!

And as always, You should join TOO!!: http://www.ipsy.com/?refer=u-hgj5grwiit6y1fo9

Colors of the Rainbow Tag

So there is a video going around YouTube where all the Beauty Girls list their favorite beauty items in all the colors of the Rainbow. Well, why should I miss out on the fun just because I don’t have a YouTube Channel!? I thought it would be a fun little challenge, so here it goes!

Red

Red

Red – MAC Red Lipstick
This was a no brainer. I had to choose a red lipstick and MAC Red is a long time favorite of mine. It’s the perfect cool toned red.
Orange

Orange

Orange – Real Techniques Expert Face Brush
This brush has seriously changed the way I apply foundation. Seriously. The bristles are so soft and densely packed that it gives you the most amazing airbrushed look. I promise. It’s only $9.99 and you won’t regret it.
Yellow

Yellow

Yellow – Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
This has been my favorite moisturizer since the beginning of my makeup career. My skin used to be super duper dry and this always got the job done. Recently my skin has turned into more normal/combination and I don’t use it everyday but I still keep a bottle on hand for the days that I need a little more moisture.
Green

Green

Green – Simple Makeup Wipes
If you haven’t heard of the Simple line, get thee to a drugstore and check it out. All of their products are just like the name suggests. Simple. They contain no junk fillers and fragrances and are perfect for sensitive skin. I’ve used a lot of makeup wipes in my days and they are the ONLY ones that don’t irritate my eyes even a little bit.
Blue

Blue

Blue – Essie Polish in Avenue Maintain
Because of my primary job, I don’t always get to wear nailpolish but when I do, I’m always drawn to blue. This Essie polish is the prettiest, creamy blue and I just adore it.
Indigo

Indigo

Indigo – BH Hollywood Palette
This palette is my new obsession. I’m putting it in the Indigo category because the packaging is indigo and it contains a couple indigo eyeshadows. BH Cosmetics released 3 palettes based on California cities and the Hollywood one quickly became my favorite for it’s bright, fun colors. (I’m actually thinking of doing a series like ‘Nude Week’ where I feature a different look from the palette every day.)
Violet

Violet

Violet – ALL the Violet Eyeshadows
Violet or Purple is my favorite color to wear on the eyes so I knew my choice for violet was going to be an eyeshadow but I simply could not pick just one. Maybe Satellite Dreams by MAC but I don’t want to make all my other purples jealous.

So a random little post but fun nonetheless! You guys try to pick your favorite beauty items in all the colors of the Rainbow. It’s fun and a little more challenging than I thought it would be!

***And YAY for the internet being fixed!!!***
