Ipsy Glam Bag: March

Glam Bag March

Glam Bag March

I must say, Ipsy has been on a roll these past two months. I’ve been very happy with what’s coming every month. Granted, this month, I got another Be A Bombshell product and nail polish, both of which I’ve gotten a lot of lately. But you know what, I don’t mind because I’ve been impressed with the Be A Bombshell products and you know, I can always give the nail polishes to a friend. Anyway, here’s what’s up with this month’s bag.

The bag itself is interesting. Ipsy has started a collaboration with artists to design their bags. This one was designed by a San Francisco artist named Klari Reis and is supposed to mimic the city layout of San Francisco. To me, it looks like when you look through a microscope at onion peels…in technicolor. I kind of like it.

Be A Bombshell Eyeshadow Quad in Bora Bora – I’m really impressed with the quality of these shadows! They are smooth and easily blended. While you’d have to add some extra shadows to get a full look from the palette, the colors are gorgeous! I especially love the vivid blue-green color.

Pixi Flawless Beauty Primer – A primer that adds glow and hydrates? Sign me up! For me and my dry skin, this primer gives a great luminosity for under my more matte foundations. I really like it.

Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Get Ready – First off, I love anything nugget size so the cute little mini lipstick had me at first sight. I love the Marvelous Moxie glosses but had not tried the lipsticks yet. They are really a great, creamy formula. I’ll have to look into what other colors they have in the line.

Nicole by OPI Roughles Nail Polish in On What Grounds? – This color reminds me of Robin’s Eggs! Perfect for Spring. I’m not entirely sold on the ‘rough’ texture, though. I’m not sure if I love it or hate it. The jury’s still out.

So Ipsy’s been hitting some home runs lately. You know you want to get in on the action!!!!!

Ipsy Glam Bag: November

November Glam Bag

November Glam Bag

It’s that Ipsy time of the month again. I’m on the fence on whether or not I’m happy with this month’s bag. On one hand, the bag itself is great and I’m not mad at any of the products but it seems like I’ve gotten a few of these things before. Let’s dive in, shall we?

Starlooks Gem Pencil in Topaz – In my 7 months with Ipsy, this has been my 3rd Starlooks Pencil. I mean, there are worse pencils, but there are certainly better. This one in Topaz is a SUPER glittery silver. In a lot of glitter eye pencils, the glitter gets clumpy and the pencil is hard to apply but this one applys pretty smooth. So that’s good, but I’m just not sure how often I’ll wear a super glittery pencil like this. It could be a fun accent on the bottom lash line or good as a super sparkly base for a Holiday look.

BH Cosmetics Baked Galaxy Chic Eyeshadow in Aphrodite – Again, this is the 2nd time I’ve gotten a BH shadow sample in my bag…but this one, I’m not complaining about. I’m a big fan of BH Cosmetics and had been eyeballing the Galaxy Chic Baked Shadow Palette for a while but I’m just not generally a fan of baked shadows. This one, is gorgeous. It’s a beautiful shimmery rusty color that is perfect for the season and the color payoff is fab. Ok BH, I’ll buy your palette!

Nailtini Nail Polish in Champagne – My second Nailtini polish in 7 months. (Are we seeing a pattern here?) The color is a beautiful rose gold. I’ll wear it and if the formula is like the last Nailtini polish I got, I’ll like it.

Pixi Beauty Bronzer in Subtly Suntouched – I have very fair skin, and this hardly shows up on ME so for them to call it a bronzer is a bit of a stretch. It has a nice satin finish, so I apply it heavily, could probably use it as a nice natural blush. If i just dust it all over my face, it could probably be good to just warm up my complexion. The moral of this is, it will work for me, because I’m so fair, but on people with darker skin tones, this will probably be a bust product.

Be A Bombshell Lip Crayon in Hot Damn – I love this. That’s it. I love the color, (a pretty pinky red). I love the formula. I love the name. I love the lip crayon form. Love and Win!

Em Cosmetics Lipstick in Don’t Tell Mom – Em is the new cosmetic line from Michelle Phan who is a popular YouTube Beauty Guru. I’ve heard mixed reviews of her line on the internets so I was happy to get something to try out for myself. The color I got is a BRIGHT hot pink and something that I have a lot of already in my collection. There is no lack of color payoff with this bad boy. You put it on your lips and BAM! It feels good on the lips and the wear is average but I’m not going: WOW! I’m going to go pay $16.50 for another one of these lipsticks. Yeah, a bit pricey. But in my $10 Ipsy bag, I’ll take it!

So overall, not a bad $10 investment for, if nothing else, a super cute bag and a LOVE lip crayon.

Ipsy Glam Bag: August

August Glam Bag

August Glam Bag

Hey there Glam Bag Fans! I finally got around to testing out some of the products in my August Ipsy bag. Here’s what I got in August:

First off, the Bag itself is super cute. It’s a pretty magenta color with a gold ‘Glamour Academy’ crest on it. After last month’s ‘plain’ bag, this one was a pleasant surprise.

Michael Todd Jojoba Charcoal Facial Scrub: This is the one thing out of the bag that I haven’t tried yet but I’ve never heard anything but good things about Michael Todd Products so I’m sure it will be great. Plus, charcoal is all the rage right now and I love being trendy. I look forward to scrubbing my face.

Mica Beauty Cosmetics Shimmer Powder in Bronze: I was ready to not like this because I’m not a big fan of loose pigment eyeshadows but I was pretty surprised. The shimmer is super fine and color gorgeous. I used it on my eyes over a creme shadow and it looked applied really well. It would also be really pretty if you used it really lightly as a highlight or add a small amount to your liquid foundation to give it a bronzy glow.

Pixi Lash Booster Mascara: I really wanted to like this but I just don’t. It didn’t do my lashes any favors. I like to load on mascara and after one coat it started getting clumpy. It didn’t smudge or flake so it does get points in that department.

Pacifica Alight Multi-Mineral BB Cream: Now if you’re thinking that this is going to give you flawless coverage, you’re not going to be impressed. BUT, as a primer it’s pretty darn good. It seemed to make my skin more even and blurred my pores and lines. It actually made my face feel pretty smooth. I dig it.

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Anarchy: First of all, is this not the cutest nugget lipstick ever! This is my fave thing in the bag. It’s hard to impress me with lipsticks, just because I think that they are all more or less the same. I tend not to buy higher end lipsticks because, let’s be serious, they are all going to wear off sooner or later. This lipstick is kind of the bomb. It feels great on the lips, looks smooth and wears like crazy. The Anarchy color is really pretty on me also. I’m going to have to try out some others in full size.

Overall, Another great Glam Bag! You can get the fun goodies too! Click the link:

Loving Lately: Pixi Soft Focus Fresh

Pixi Soft Focus Fresh Palette

Pixi Soft Focus Fresh Palette

Every time I’m in Target I’m always drawn to the Pixi section with it’s pretty green and pink packaging and fairy motif. But then I look at the price tags….and I walk away. Enter Hautelook.com. HauteLook is a website that sells higher end makeup, shoes, clothes, housewares, etc. in flash sales. I’ve gotten some excellent deals. When they had a Pixi event I decided to pick up the Soft Focus Fresh Palette for $9. From $34. (Like I said, DEALS!) I’m really glad I purchased it because I’ve been obsessed with the palette ever since it came in.

What’s Included:
12 Neutral Colored Eyeshadows – Most have a shimmer but there are 3 that are completely Matte
6 Blush and Highlight Colors
4 Lip Glosses

What I Love:
The eyeshadows are actually very good quality. There is a great range of light to dark shades so that you can create everything from an everyday easy look to a nice neutral smokey eye. I feel like the shimmer in the shadows is somehow different from other shadows. I don’t know how to explain it but the shimmers give off a more dewy look than other shimmers….if that makes any sense.
The face products are my favorite part of the palette. The blushes and highlighters are fabulous. All but one have a subtle shimmer to them that gives off the most beautiful ethereal glow on the skin. They really do make your face look ‘fresh’.

What I don’t Love:
The palette overall is great but there are a couple of flaws, in my opinion. Number one is the size. This thing is a honker! I mean, you could have dinner on it! It’s about 8×8 inches which doesn’t make it great for travel and storage. The next con is a personal problem. I just don’t like lip products in palettes with powder products. Unless they have some sort of cover over the lip products, powder will inevitably get into the lip glosses, making them gross. And that’s annoying. Also, while I like the glosses and colors, they don’t seem to last too long on my lips and since I’m not taking the huge palette with me, I have to carry a different lip product to reapply on the go.

Overall, I really love the product and will definitely check out some more things by the Pixi line. Would I pay the full $34 price tag for it? Maybe….but I’m leaning towards yes. The quality is there, for sure and despite the little problems I have with it, I’m getting tons of use out of it. Have you tried the Pixi line? Thoughts? Product Recommendations?
