Naked Week: Day 4

Day 4

Day 4

Today’s look is proof that naked is ALWAYS fun! I decided to add in a teal green liner to pop with the colors from the UD Naked Basics Palette.

Here’s the breakdown of today’s fun eye:
I used the same mixture of Too Faced Shadow Insurance and MAC Select Sheer Cover-Up to prep my eyelids. Foxy was then swept all over the lid to the crease. I used a blend of Faint and Crave on the outer half of the eye and blended it up into the outer crease. I used Venus in the tear duct area and as a brow bone highlight. For the fun teal pop of liner I used NYX Retractable Eye Liner in Aqua Green. Lashes were finished with Maybelline Lots of Lashes Mascara on Top and Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara on Bottom.

On the Rest of My Face:
Flower Beauty Face The World Tinted Moisturizer in TM2
Wet N’ Wild Cover-All Stick in 801
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circles in Fair
Physicians Formula Mineral Correcting Powder in Translucent
ELF Golden Bronzer
Benefit Coralista Blush
Benefit Instant Brow Pencil in Light
ELF Brow Clear Mascara
Maybelline Vivids Lipstick in Fuchsia Flash

Too Much? Not for me!!!

Too Much? Not for me!!!

I thought today’s look was extra fun with the teal on the eyes and bright lips. Like I said, Naked is never boring!

Naked Week: Day 3

Day 3

Day 3

Happy Humpday Everyone! This marks the halfway point of my journey into mattes and nudes using the UD Naked Basics Palette. I hope you’ve enjoyed it thus far and have maybe even picked up some ideas on how to use this palette (or similar shades) for yourself! After going soft and easy with my makeup yesterday, I decided to pump up the volume today for a super glam look.
Naked Wednesday

Naked Wednesday

Here’s the breakdown:
I prepped my eyes using a mix of Too Faced Shadow Insurance and MAC Select Cover-Up to make the shades stay put. I used Naked 2 all over the lid up to the crease. Then I blended Faint into the crease and used Crave on the outer corner. Then I used W.O.S. to blend above the crease and up to the browbone. To lighten the inner corner around the tear duct I used Venus and then brought it along the inner half of the lower lash line. I lined the outer half of the lower lash line with Crave also. My L’Oreal Carbon Black Lineur Intense Felt Tip Liquid Liner was the perfect fit for that glam winged look. On my top and bottom inner rims I used the Tarte skinny smolderEyes in Onyx. The look was completed with Revlon Lash Potion Mascara in Blackest Black. (That stuff is seriously amazing, I highly recommend trying it. One of the best Mascaras I’ve ever used)

Naked Week: Day 2

Day 2

So for day two of my foray into the UD Naked Basics Palette I decided to go for a fresh faced look with pops of pink. I only used two of the shades from the palette and only used a BB Cream on my face so the entire look was super quick and easy.

Day 2 Eye Look Breakdown:
I primed eye area with my MAC Concealer to even out the skin since I was going to be using very light shades. On my lid I used W.O.S. to give nice wash of color and Naked 2 in the crease to give some definition. Next I lined my top lash line with my Too Faced 3 Way Lash Lining Tool and lined the bottom waterline with Rimmel ScandalEyes in Nude. A few coats of CoverGirl Clump Crusher Mascara in Brown on the top and bottom lashes sealed this super easy and natural look. I like to think that it’s like my eyes, but better!

On the rest of my face:
Garnier Skin Renew BB Cream in Fair/Light
Benefit “That Gal” Brightening Face Primer
Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Correcting Powder in Translucent
Physicians Formula Happy Booster Blush in Pink
Wet N’ Wild Reserve Your Cabana Highlighter
Mary Kay Brow Pencil in Blonde
Mary Kay Brow Gel
Revlon Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake

We’ll see what I come up with for Naked Humpday tomorrow!

Naked Week: Day 1

First off: GET YOUR MINDS OUT OF THE GUTTER!! I’m not posting nudie pictures all week.

Now that that’s out of the way, let me explain what Naked Week is. Two things I’m not really into/comfortable wearing on myself are nude and matte eyeshadows. Other people, I think can pull off the look beautifully but on me, I’m never satisfied with the result. I think it’s because I’m drawn to bright colors and shimmer finishes so I’m not used to the look of nude mattes on myself. Enter the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette. I bought this a few weeks ago in an effort to try to dip my toe into the nude/matte eyeshadow world but have used it only once. Well this was just unacceptable. So Naked Week was born. I’m going to post a new look everyday this week featuring the Naked Basics Palette on my eyes. This is going to help me become more comfortable with using these shades/finishes and hopefully give you guys some ideas for looks if you have the palette also.

Day 1 Eye Look Breakdown:
Today’s look is what I think is a pretty natural nude look. I used my Too Faced Shadow Insurance as a base. Then divided my lid pretty much into 3rds using Foxy, Naked 2 and then Faint from inner corner to out. I used W.O.S. in the crease to blend all of the shades together and finished up the eye with a little bit of Venus in the tear duct area. I lined the lower lash line with Venus in the inner half then faint on the outer half. Then I used my Mally Evercolor Automatic Waterproof Eyeliner in Onyx to tightline the upper lash line and on the waterline. A couple coats of Maybelline The Colossal Volume Mascara on the top and Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara on the bottom pulled everything together.

A “Wicked” Good Time!

Two of my bestie girlfriends and I headed to Dallas to catch a performance of Wicked. I loves me a good theatre performance. Not only because I’m a total nerd, but I love a good excuse to get dressed up and drink wine with my ladies. As I mentioned before in my post about the Ginda Palette by Urban Decay, I’m a total Wizard of Oz nerd. What better way of celebrating a Wizard of Oz type of night than with a look using this palette! We had such a blast and the show was ah-mazing!

Too Faced Shadow Insurance
UD Glinda Palette Shades: Magic, South, Aura, and Oz

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural – Light
Maybelline Bouncy Blush in Plum Wine
Wet n’ Wild Bronzer in Bikini Contest
UD Super Saturated Lip Color in Glinda

Savy’s Bonus Makeup Question inspired by the performance: What on earth kind of makeup did they use to make Elphaba green?! I need that formula in a foundation, STAT!
Bonus, BONUS Question: How to I get to do theatre makeup? What a fun job that must be!

Glinda Pallet

So I’m a lifelong fan of The Wizard of Oz.  I still have the movie poster in the hallway of our apartment.  So naturally, I was super excited to hear about the Oz movie coming out.  THEN when I was at Sephora and saw that Urban Decay had released pallets based on Glinda the Good Witch and Theodora the Wicked Witch. I mean, Wizard of Oz PLUS makeup!??! SIGN ME UP! Sadly, I discovered them right before the wedding madness and wasn’t willing to pay the $45 price tag.  Well then the wedding came and went and I started looking up some reviews/tutorials on the pallets and decided again that I needed one.  I went to the local Sephora and the display was gone….I decided it was not meant to be.  Then I was like, well, I’ll go to Ulta and if it’s not there, I’m not going to bother ordering it online.  All or nothing.  Well, they had an end cap display with about 10-15 of just the Glinda pallets left.  Exactly what I wanted.  **insert angelic chorus**

I’ve never tried any Urban Decay products before so I didn’t have any real expectations. The kit comes with 6 eyeshadows (2 of which are ‘duos’ so technically speaking you get 8), a half size 24/7 eye pencil and a Super Saturated Lip Color. I’m not going to lie, the eyeshadows are not my favorite formula. I feel like the color payoff was not what I was expecting and they were a bit hard to blend. On the other hand, the lip color is the JAM! Not only is the color gorgeous and perfect for me, but the formula is awesome! I’ll for sure be looking to purchase another color or 3 of those suckers.

Let’s be serious, it’s Makeup and The Wizard of Oz….so I’m not mad at it in any way.

There’s no place like home.
